NORTHERN MOUNTAINS AND HERITAGE DISCOVERY – 18 DAYS

Departure: Hanoi

Destinations: Hanoi - Sapa - Ha Giang - Babe Lake - Ninh Binh - Halong Bay - Hue - Hoian

Trip overview

An immersive exploration of Vietnam’s far north, followed by a graceful descent to the country’s imperial and coastal heritage. From Sapa’s terraced valleys and hill-tribe villages, the route continues deep into the Ha Giang highlands — Hoang Su Phi, Quan Ba and Dong Van — with homestays that offer genuine encounters with local communities, before the dramatic Ma Pi Leng Pass leads to the tranquil waters of Ba Be Lake. The journey then turns toward more familiar ground: an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay, the limestone scenery of Ninh Binh, and an overnight train to the former imperial capital of Hue, concluding in the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An. Local guides drawn from the hill-tribe communities accompany much of the mountain journey, lending genuine depth and insight throughout.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Note: the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays, Fridays, all afternoons, and throughout October and November for maintenance — during closures it can only be viewed from outside.
