City walks take in the Cu Chi Tunnels, Notre Dame Cathedral, Chinatown and Ben Thanh Market, while the delta days combine boat cruises, cycling through the countryside and a visit to the Cai Be floating market, with ample opportunity throughout to capture Vietnam’s street life and rural scenery.
Xin chào! Welcome to Vietnam. On arrival, you will be met and privately transferred to your hotel for refreshment.
Afterwards, meet your personal guide in the hotel lobby for a gentle walk around the surrounding streets, taking in the city’s atmosphere and photographic opportunities, before time to rest.
In the evening, transfer to an authentic local restaurant for a welcome dinner, then return to your hotel.
An early start today. After breakfast at your hotel, depart at 08:30 for the two-hour drive to My Tho in the Mekong Delta.
On arrival, board a boat on the Tien River and cross to the Ben Tre side, known throughout Vietnam as the land of coconuts, passing Dragon Island along the way. Continue through the Xep Canal to see how coconuts are harvested and how local families craft handicrafts from the trunks and shells, while sampling seasonal fruits to the sound of traditional folk music.
Continue by xe loi, a traditional motorised cart, along the village paths to a local orchard for fresh honey served with tea or rice wine, and see beehives kept beneath the longan trees.
Board a small rowing boat to glide along the water-palm creeks, then visit a family workshop to watch coconut candy being made and taste this famous speciality of Ben Tre province.
Return to My Tho and drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, stopping en route at Vinh Trang Pagoda. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Visit the remarkable underground network of the Cu Chi Tunnels to understand how it was built and used, walking a section of the tunnels and learning what daily life was like during the Vietnam War, with a tasting of the tea and steamed cassava that sustained the guerrilla fighters.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City for an afternoon stop at Ben Thanh Market, where you may shop at your own expense. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. You are then escorted to the airport for your onward flight. End of our services.
