How safe is Vietnam?

Contrary to common belief, Vietnam is considered to be one of the safest countries to visit. However; just like in the rest of the world, there might be thieves and pickpockets, both in busy places, and on motorbikes, these activities are most likely to arise in Ho Chi Minh city, but not in Hanoi. During your trip you should be vigilant at all times to avoid these from happening. Therefore; we recommend that you should not bring valuables such as expensive watches and jewelries while you are out and about.

When is the best time to have a trip to Vietnam?

There are three different climates in Vietnam, which makes it a perfect destination for your holiday, while it may be rainy in one region, it might be sunny in the other. You can inform us of what your interests are, and we will help you find the ideal tour that will suit your needs and preferences.

What is the time difference?

Vietnam's timezone is UTC+7 and therefore is 12 hours ahead of New York, 7 hours ahead of London, 6 hours ahead of Paris,1 hour behind Perth and 3 hours behind Sydney.

What kind of currency do you recommend?

The official currency in Vietnam is Vietnam Dong, which might be obtained in your own country. During your stay in Vietnam, we recommend using the local currency (VND) because it is accepted everywhere in this country. It is easier for you to pay for the items that cost less than 1 USD. The USD is also widely accepted as a means of payment in the tourism attractions and the major cities such as Hanoi, Danang, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh city... However, if you still want to use USD for your daily expenses,we still recommend to use the VND, here is a small trick: when the locals tell you the price of the things you buy, you take off FOUR NUMBERS then divide by TWO to know how much it is in USD. ( 100,000 VND, take off 4 zeros, divide by 2, the value in USD is 5)

Where can I change money?

We recommend you should change the money as soon as you arrive at the airport, where the banks and ATM are available and convenient with English-speaking staff. In case you feel tired after a long flight and do not want to change money right away, you can change cash and travelers’ cheques at big hotels or at authorized foreign exchange banks, which are abundant almost everywhere in Vietnam. In addition, wherever you travel, you’ll always find someone willing to change dollars into VND, though rates will vary. When receiving Dong, you’ll be presented with a huge pile of notes. Refuse any badly torn notes and ask for a mix of denominations so that you always have a few low-value notes in hand for small purchases.

Is it better to use local currency for daily expenses?

You should change some local currency on arrival in order to spend on some small services during your tour. Anyway in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar still accept US dollar along with local currency but not for Thailand (Only Bath for any expensive). You also can pay by credit card at most of restaurants and big shops (Some places may charge about 4% on top of your expenses)

Where do you recommend to eat in Vietnam?

It depends on what food you want. You can eat at western restaurants ( French, Italian, Spanish, Jewish...) or Asian restaurants (Vietnamese , Indian , Thai , restaurants, Korean, Japanese...), where they serve their typical dishes. You can also eat Pizza, KFC, Mac Donald, Fish & Chips at food stalls, food chains and cafe's. We recommend trying at least once at a street food restaurant during your visit, which will add to your experiences of Vietnam. The most typical dishes & drinks of Vietnam include: Nem (spring rolls), Pho, Bun (noodles), Bun Cha ( noodles with barbecued pork)

How can I book a tour?

In order to book any tour, you just need to select your preferred tour(s), all tour-related information is available and sufficient by different tabs, and then click “Book this tour” on our website. Once you complete the booking form and summit, there will be a notification to you and to us about your request. We will contact you within 24 hours from the time you have received a confirmation of your inquiry. You also can click on contact us and let us know what are you looking for then we will get back to you in the mean time.

Can I have a tailor-made tour?

Jewel Tours offers samples of tours on the website which can be changed entirely based on what your preferences are, email us your inquiry and together will will make a tour 100% tailored to your liking.

Once I have booked, can I amend my booking?

How do I pay for the trip?

You can pay by bank transfer, credit card, or online via the Onepay gateway in Vietnam. We will send you a payment link upon the agreement made. Further information can be found at our booking conditions.

Is there any hidden cost? Any tipping required?

Traveling with Jewel Tours will mean everything in your tour package is provided, all the inclusions and exclusions are mentioned on the booking confirmation that will be sent to you. Tipping is not compulsory however, with the effort your tour guide and driver have delivered they expect to receive your appreciation. Tipping suggestion in practice as below

• Restaurant services: 10% of total bill (If the services charge is not indicated in the bill)
• Boatman: 100.000 VND per trip
• Crew team on board: 300.000 - 400.000 VND per trip (about 15 - 10usd)
• Tour guide: 300.000 - 500.000 VND per day (about 15 to 25usd)
• Driver: 150.000 - 300.000 VND per day (about 7 - 15usd)

How about the transportation?

While public transportation might be lacking, we have the means to give you international quality of transportation, be it a car, mini-van, or bus, we deliver your desired automobile which we will take you wherever you want in the most comfortable way. Should you have some time off and looking for a thrill, try out one of the motorbike taxi's in Hanoi, you will experience the city as if you were a local.

Where will I be dropped off following my tour?

After your tour package has been completed, your personal driver will drop you off at the closest international airport, or domestic airport if you'd wish to continue your adventures elsewhere. If you plan to stay longer, and have the required visa to do so, inform us where you want to go so we can arrange it for you.

What time will I return from my tour?

All of the package tours we offer are tailor-made the tour start and end daily depend on you (group), our standard time start at 08:30 and return to hotel 17:00, except evening activities included in the program either a long journey connection between cities.

How do I cancel my tour?

You can cancel the tour at any time by send us an email with the explanation of the cancellation, and agreed to our booking conditions
