Phuket Gateway
Phuket Gateway, a modern building in Sino-Portuguese style, reflects uniqueidentity. It was built to celebrate the 80th birthday of His Majesty King BhumibolAdulyadej.
It isin an area of 25 rai of the royal property inThaChatchai, Mai Khaosub-district, near the ThaoThepKasattri- Thao Si Sunthon Bridge at the intersection entering and leaving Phuket-Phang-ngaprovinces. It is used to welcome Thai and foreign tourists and facilitate their travel.
Its main feature is a series of 29 pillars,from which local and international visitors can learn Phuket's history, arts and culture. In front of the building, there are also the sculptural works of art displaying a sea turtle and several of its gigantic eggs. The sculptural works areProf. Thana Laohathaikun's masterpiece, which was inspired by Mai Khao Beach in Phuket that is a place for leatherback turtles to lay eggs.
Phuket Gateway provides a tourist service center;a minitheatre showing information about Phuket province;a library;a Cafe;a shop of souvenirs and products from the Arts and Craft Center; and seminar rooms. Tourists can stop off, relax and study Phuket tourism here. In addition, it is well-known as a scenery destination of the Sarasin Bridge, from which the most beautiful sunset can be viewed.Phuket Gateway is open every day from 09.00 am to 05.00 pm.
