Vietnam expects to welcome over 800,000 tourists during the Lunar New Year festival, an increase of 12.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
Nearly 1 million of foreign tourists arrived in Vietnam on February 8, the first day of the Year of the Monkey, becoming the first visitors to the beach city in the Lunar New Year. Of them, 600,000 flew by airlines, while 140,000 came by road or cruise.
On this occasion, local authorities organised several activities to welcome the first visitors during Tet holiday including gift offerings and art performances. This is a very good beginning for the Monkey year and Vietnam expects to welcome a bigger amount of tourists during the whole year.
