Congratulations: Cambodia becomes Asia's leading cultural destination by 2024

Cambodia is considered the leading cultural destination in Asia for 2024 by the World Tourism Awards. This is the fourth time that Cambodia has won this great award.

Since the inception of the World Travel Awards in 1993, based in London, United Kingdom, it has become a recognized and award-winning institution for the global travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

This is the 31st edition of the World Travel Awards, with winners divided into regions in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, North America, Oceania and South America.


As in 2022 and 2023, Cambodia has been named Asia's Leading Cultural Destination, with more votes than India, Japan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. As of 2019, Vietnam has won twice, Thailand once and Cambodia twice.

As the winner of Asia's Leading Youth Travel Destination, Cambodia received more votes than its three neighbors, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. Laos has won twice, Thailand once and the last two times came to Cambodia.

In 2024, Siem Reap was also nominated for Asia's Most Romantic Destination 2024, but Siem Reap and Thailand's Koh Samui received less votes than Bali, Indonesia.

It should be noted that in the first seven months of 2024, Cambodia received about 3.74 million international tourists, an increase of 23.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Of which, more than 580,000 international tourists visited Angkor. 33% and earned more than 27 million US dollars, an increase of 33.7% over the previous year.
