Ba Be National Park
In 1992, Ba Be was assigned as a National Park in an effort to protect this mountainous area rich of biodiversity and landscape varieties. The park stretches over 10,048 square kilometers with many different ecosystems.
The mountains that are present within the park are made up of limestone karst which is characteristic to Northern Vietnam, with evergreen forests and vegetation. To the side of the rivers you will see bamboo close to the banks that give off a real tropical forest feel. The many Limestone Mountains to the side of the lakes and waters might have opened up to give way to magnificent caves formed by years of erosion and some are open for exploration. Within Ba Be, ethnic minority communities make their traditional home, with a large Tay population that make their living of farming and fishing making it a perfect opportunity to explore their culture or hear about their local legends on the various places throughout Ba Be.
