Vietnam National Museum of History

Vietnam National Museum of History located in central Hanoi, the Vietnam National Museum of History preserves hundreds of thousands of artifacts showcasing the country’s history from prehistoric times to the present.

The Vietnam National Museum of History was established in 2011 by merging two major institutions: the Museum of Vietnamese History and the Museum of the Vietnamese Revolution. Located in central Hanoi near Hoan Kiem Lake, it houses over 200,000 artifacts showcasing Vietnam’s history from prehistoric times to the modern era, including several National Treasures.

Exhibits cover archaeological cultures like Dong Son, Sa Huynh, Oc Eo, and artifacts from the Cham people, ancient ceramics, and bronze works. Modern history is reflected through materials on the revolution, the Communist Party, and President Ho Chi Minh. The museum also displays international pieces from China, India, and Japan.

The main building blends French colonial style with traditional Vietnamese architecture. It features an eight-sided central hall with a three-layered tiled roof and is designed to preserve artifacts in Hanoi’s humid climate. The space is both elegant and functional for exhibitions.
As a member of ICOM and founding member of ANMA, the museum collaborates with over 30 international institutions and hosted the 2013 ANMA Conference. It's a must-visit for history lovers, offering insights into Vietnam’s proud legacy of nation-building and resilience.
