Mam Xoi Rice Terrace Hill
Mam Xoi Hill in Mu Cang Chai has become a symbol of Yen Bai tourism during the golden rice season. Located about 8 kilometers from the district center in La Pan Tan Commune, this terraced hill is famous for its unique circular shape, resembling a tray of sticky rice. Sitting at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the weather here is always cool and pleasant. In autumn, sunlight pours like honey over the golden fields. The scenery captivates countless visitors every year.
The terraces were created by the diligent hands of the H’Mong people in Ta Chi Lu Village. It took them decades of breaking soil, weeding, irrigating, and planting to form these breathtaking steps of rice. Today, besides yielding crops, the fields bring valuable income through tourism. Mam Xoi is now one of the most photographed spots during harvest season. Its enchanting beauty reflects both human resilience and nature’s splendor. Every weekend in the ripe rice season, thousands of tourists flock here for the view and the photos. The warm sun, golden rice, and the laughter of children playing on the hillside form a heartwarming scene.
