Battambang Overview
Battambang is the second largest city in the country located Battambang Province in Western Cambodia. Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, later ruled by the Siamese and followed by the French colonization. Many temples, statues and buildings with different kinds of architecture correlating to the culturally different rulers, Battambang is a city with an unique charm and a place with many interesting sites explore and friendly people to meet.
Although the city has much beauty to offer, beyond its borders is also plenty to experience, with one of them being Phnom Sampeu, where many people go in the early mornings when the sun starts to rise to witness what is believed to be a stream 1 million bats that exit the cave, making for an extraordinary spectacle.
