Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts
Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts - is one of the most beautiful architectural landmarks in the city. It houses over 20,000 works ranging from classical to contemporary, including paintings, sculptures, and applied arts.
Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts stands out with its Baroque architecture blended with Eastern touches. The building features a dominant yellow facade, red tiled roof, and green-glazed edges. Inside, decorative patterned tiles and marble staircases add a sense of elegance. The European-style stained glass windows cast colorful light, making it a popular check-in spot for visitors.
This grand mansion once belonged to “Uncle Hoa” – one of the wealthiest Chinese-Vietnamese businessmen in early 20th-century Saigon. He contributed to many civic projects such as hospitals, temples, and the Majestic Hotel. The mansion was built in 1929 and completed in 1934. After 1975, it was taken over by the government and transformed into the Museum of Fine Arts in 1987.
Today, the museum houses thousands of valuable artworks, from ancient artifacts and oil paintings to wooden sculptures and modern pieces. It was officially recognized as a municipal architectural heritage site in 2012. More than just a place to admire art, it’s also a cultural landmark and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Saigon’s history, art, and architecture.
