Am Tien Cave
Am Tien Cave is located in the limestone mountains of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, about 10 km from Ninh Binh city center. This site is closely associated with the historical figure Empress Dowager Duong Van Nga - an influential woman linked to both the Dinh and Early Le dynasties. According to legend, after stepping away from power, she came to Am Tien to live in seclusion and practice Buddhism. The cave lies in a peaceful, sacred landscape that feels hidden from the outside world. To reach it, visitors must cross a tranquil emerald lake surrounded by majestic mountains.
Am Tien Cave captivates not only with its historical significance but also with its pristine and quiet natural beauty. The entrance leads through a 40-meter tunnel carved into the mountain, opening into a serene space completely detached from modern life. Inside the cave are unique stalactite formations and cool air year-round. As sunlight filters through, the scenery takes on a mystical, peaceful glow. For this reason, it’s often called the “Hidden Love Valley” or “Tuyet Tinh Coc” of Ninh Binh—a perfect retreat for those seeking inner peace.
Today, Am Tien Cave has become a popular destination for those who love eco-tourism combined with spiritual and historical exploration. It’s often included in travel routes alongside Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, the Dinh – Le Temples, and Trang An. A visit here offers not only scenic beauty but also deep insight into Vietnam’s culture and spiritual traditions. With its secluded location, poetic landscapes, and rich historical value, Am Tien Cave stands out among Ninh Binh’s many attractions. Truly, it is a “hidden gem” in the heart of Vietnam’s heritage region.
