Thung Nang Valley
Thung Nang, or Sun Valley, is a hidden gem located in Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District, within the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. Its name originates from the contrasting light created by the surrounding mountains—one side shaded, the other bathed in golden sunlight. Visitors reach the valley by a peaceful 3km boat ride from Thach Bich Pier, drifting between majestic limestone karsts. The area is embraced by the Ngu Hanh Mountain Range, separating it from Linh Coc – Hai Nham. The journey begins a tranquil immersion into a magical, sun-drenched natural wonder.
While gliding along the river, travelers are enchanted by the serene landscape of clear water, floating clouds, and lush greenery. Limestone mountains with fascinating shapes—like Pig Mountain, Hom Cave, Snake Stream, and Toad Mountain—spark imagination and wonder. Sunlight filtering through leaves, reflecting off reeds and cliffs, brings the scene to life with vibrant, poetic beauty. The fresh, cool air adds to the unforgettable river journey. Every moment feels like stepping into a moving painting full of color and peace.
Beyond natural charm, Thung Nang holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. Visitors can stop by Voi Dai Temple, dating back to the Le Dynasty, dedicated to the Forest Guardian Spirit, and Thung Nang Temple, honoring the Mountain Goddess. The area also features Vang Cave, an important archaeological site once home to ancient Vietnamese people, recognized by UNESCO in 2011. Thung Nang blends majestic landscapes with sacred history and quiet reflection. It is a perfect escape for those seeking nature, tranquility, and a sense of timeless heritage.
