Stung Treng is a quite town and by most only considered an outpost that sees traffic from more busy destinations such as Kratie towards Laos and visa versa. However there are some activities to entertain yourself, the town is located on the riverbanks of the Sekong River where it connects to the much bigger Mekong River.

Not far from Stung Treng is a nice waterfall that is definitely worth the visit, combine it with a beautiful sunset which makes for a stunning picture. Boatrides on the Mekong River are an enjoyable experience, greatly complemented by the somewhat lacking tourism in the province.
