Xoi Phong (Giant Fried Sticky Rice Ball)

Xoi Phong is a unique An Giang treat – a deep-fried sticky rice ball that puffs up to the size of a football. It’s fun to watch being made and even more fun to eat.

Made from glutinous rice flour, the dough is deep-fried until it inflates into a golden, hollow ball. Crisp outside, chewy inside.


It’s slightly sweet and often served with shredded chicken, pork floss, or sugar-sesame mix. Kids and tourists love its unusual texture.


Xoi Phong is often sold at roadside stalls and local fairs. Watching it puff up is half the fun.
