Halong Bay is a unique location whose whole area looks as if one giant creature landed on a gigantic mountain which made it split in many, hence the name Halong Bay translating to Bay of Descending Dragons. The area has many towering limestone mountains rising up from beneath the sea, with forces of nature shaping caves in some of them. Over 1,900 islands, both inhabited and uninhabited, are scattered throughout the archipelago that is truly a sight to behold, especially when taking a cruise which takes you through a journey of divine beauty not seen anywhere else.
